MEDICAL CARE

Should you need medical attention, go to a medical center (zdravstveni dom). Slovenians are covered by social insurance and are provided with a health booklet which entitles them to a free medical care. You will be considered as a paying patient (samoplačnik). Save your receipts for reimbursement by your own insurance. Pharmacies (lekarna/apoteka) are open during the day like stores, but in each city one is open all night. Many doctors and pharmacists speak English, so what follows are just a few basic phrases.
